ESG Partnerships
At Debenhams Group, we’re embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the heart of our brands. We're energised by our ESG framework that is actionable and meaningful, driving progress without compromising on value, style, or speed.
We have introduced short-term interim commitments while we develop our new long-term ESG strategy. These interim actions reflect our ongoing commitment to embedding more responsible business practices.
Our full ESG strategy will be launched later this year.
This phased approach ensures meaningful progress and lasting impact for our planet, people and processes, whilst ensuring our ESG strategy is considered as part of the wider company strategy, rather than separately.
Our focus is across three pillars:
Environment: Our Commitment to the Planet
We continue to strive to minimise our environmental impact, reduce of our emissions, and invest in more sustainable materials.
Social: Our Commitment to People and Our Communities
We are expanding our positive impact on people through our partnerships with charitable organisations and initiatives, where the power of our collective efforts fosters inclusivity and opportunity for all.
Governance: Our Commitment to Responsible Processes
We are committed to protecting the welfare of everyone connected to our business, upholding human rights, and raising standards across our global supply chain. Guided by robust governance frameworks, we work in close partnership with suppliers and expert stakeholders to uphold safety, fairness and continually enhance transparency across our supply chain.
Please see this year’s annual report to learn more about our progress.

Understanding our environmental impact as we transition to net zero
Working with market leading carbon experts, The Carbon Trust, we will develop the Group’s Net Zero Transition Plan which will clearly define the targets, actions and resources for our transition to net zero by 2050. This will be a credible and transparent plan that will evidence to key stakeholders – including investors, shareholders, banking partners and consumers – how our business will adapt and grow as the global economy transitions to net zero. It will be an important step in ensuring stakeholders believe that the Group is taking its environmental commitments seriously.

Deepening our supply chain mapping and governance
As we strive to continuously improve our supply chain governance, we are committing to working with leading Supply Chain Mapping Software provider, Segura to further enhance the mapping of our supply chain which will include tiers 1,2 and 3. It will provide the Group with greater visibility across our global multi-tier supply chain helping us to mitigate risk, increase the accuracy o our reporting and track supplier progress.

Championing the future of fashion
Debenhams is proud to be the headline sponsor of Graduate Fashion Week, reinforcing our commitment to supporting emerging talent and the future of fashion. As a heritage brand with a strong focus on innovation and design, we recognise the importance of nurturing the next generation of creatives.
This sponsorship underscores our dedication to providing opportunities for young designers, fostering industry connections, and championing fresh perspectives in fashion. Through this partnership, Debenhams will play a key role in celebrating creativity, diversity, and the evolution of style, ensuring that new talent has the platform it deserves to thrive.

Commitment to supporting our communities
Working in partnership with the UK’s leading micro-donation tech charity, Pennies, we will drive positive social change through supporting a selection of charity partners. Our customers will access a digital charity box which provides an accessible way to add a small donation to purchases when paying by card, digital wallet or in-app. Together, we will drive positive change in our communities.
